New superior and fully compatible battery range launched
Cat® Lift Trucks is taking the advantages of lithium-ion technology to a higher level. A new generation of Li-ion batteries has been developed by partners in the global materials handling family of which this manufacturer is part. In combination with specially prepared Cat® trucks, they maximise every Li-ion benefit.
Higher productivity and profits – with lower environmental impacts
The Logisnext-branded Li-ion batteries, based on a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, offer impressive efficiency. This results in lower energy consumption and costs – and lower related emissions.
Runtime per charge is correspondingly longer. An integral heater maintains this performance, even in workplaces as cold as minus 20°C, by ensuring an optimal charging temperature.
Battery lifespan is extended – typically to three to four times that of lead-acid. In fact, a five-year warranty comes as standard. With less spending on new batteries, battery-related maintenance and electricity bills, the TCO (total cost of operation) is much reduced.
Fast charging speeds, opportunity charging, long runtimes and zero maintenance requirements combine to minimise truck downtime. That increases truck availability and enables higher productivity.
Sustainability is improved thanks to the batteries’ high energy efficiency, long life and ecologically friendly LFP chemistry. Unlike the nearest alternatives, LFP battery production avoids the impacts of cobalt and nickel mining on natural habitats. LFP batteries are also easier to recycle, again due to the absence of those metals.
The safe choice
Customers can switch from lead-acid to Logisnext Li-ion batteries without in any way compromising safety. Fundamentally, their stable LFP chemistry minimises fire risks.
Thermal runaway is much less likely than with other Li-ion chemistries and is much less severe if it happens.
For total confidence, there are further safeguards. They include an inbuilt fire extinguisher and an advanced, intelligent battery management system
The perfect match
Logisnext Li-ion batteries are designed and built specifically to meet the needs of lift truck operations. Their introduction builds on the organisation’s accumulated experience in equipping lift trucks with Li-ion technology. They have been developed and tested in collaboration with the R&D teams who develop Cat forklifts.
However small or large the forklift fleet, and whether the trucks are used intensively or intermittently, Li-ion offers benefits. Cat lift truck dealers will identify the ideal specific battery for every truck and application. This can be factory fitted or retrofitted. In each case, the battery is fully integrated with the truck’s systems for optimum advantage.
Logisnext Li-ion batteries are initially available for the following Cat lift truck product types:
- 1.4 to 2.0 tonne 48V electric counterbalance (3 and 4 wheel)
- 2.5 to 3.5 tonne 80V electric counterbalance
- 4.0 to 5.5 tonne 80V electric counterbalance
- Platform power pallet trucks
- Pedestrian power pallet trucks
- Pedestrian stackers
Most other Cat electric counterbalance and warehouse trucks also offer the option of Li-ion batteries. For these, the most suitable Li-ion battery currently available will continue to be specified.

Along with the Logisnext batteries, dealers can supply a new range of compatible Logisnext chargers. These have been engineered to gain full advantage from the combined truck, battery and charger package.
Designed specifically for this battery range, they ensure optimum performance, safety and long‑term reliability. Each is precisely matched to the corresponding battery’s requirements, allowing the system to operate at maximum efficiency.
To guarantee full compatibility and secure the best operational outcome, the chargers must always be ordered together with the batteries.
