The latest changes apply to Cat® 1.5 to 3.5 and 4.0 to 5.5 tonne diesel and LPG counterbalance trucks.

“We have been careful not to lose the character of the products, which are still working well in their applications and are still very popular,” says IC Engine Product Manager Carmen van Boeckel.

“These are strong, no-nonsense trucks, and that’s the way our customers like them. They are robust and easy to maintain, and every feature has been designed carefully to meet the drivers’ needs.”

The main visible changes to the newly modified trucks are a more comfortable seat and a new overhead guard with more up-to-date styling. Asked which seat they preferred, Cat lift truck dealers selected the deluxe Grammer MSG 65 model.

Carmen adds: “If I had to pick just a couple of important features to highlight, I’d say the speed limiter on the whole line-up and the wet disc brakes on the larger models. With such powerful trucks, it’s vital that drivers should be helped to stay safe and employers should have the option of preventing excessive speeds. For the harsh environments and heavy duties faced by our higher-capacity forklifts, high-quality brake specifications ensure safe control while strongly resisting damage and wear.”

Models from the Cat 1.5 to 3.5 tonne IC counterbalance range are a common sight in a wide variety of industrial workplaces. With an extensive selection of models, configurations and options, they can be matched closely to each application’s specific requirements.

For heavy-duty work, as needed for example in metal and brick operations, construction, freight and ports, the 4.0 to 5.5 tonne range combines high performance with job-matched specifications.
